Anchor link

We only encourage you to change classes for your child when absolutely necessary as continual changes will harm your child’s progress. Each of our instructors have a unique teaching style and your child needs time to adjust to their teaching methods to ensure the best possible progress.

How can I work on the skills my child has not yet achieved?

Anchor link

Your Swim School membership includes unlimited, 7-day-a-week access to the pools for your enrolled child and accompanying adult.

We recommend you visit the pools outside of lesson time to practise the skills that still need work. During Swim School operating hours, our Swim School Deck Supervisors are always on hand to help assist parents with any enquiries and give individual feedback.

Each child is unique and some skills take longer to develop than others. Your child’s progress will be updated as soon as they achieve the desired outcomes for the specific skill.

If I have a question about my child’s progress what should I do?

Anchor link

Please direct any questions you have to our Swim School Deck Supervisor - they're always happy to help and give feedback! The optimum time to do this is during your child’s lesson as the Swim School Deck Supervisor can give accurate feedback whilst your child is completing their lesson.

COVID Lockdowns

How do COVID lockdowns impact the Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre?

Anchor link

Given the uncertainty of the current situation, please note that any time a State lockdown is announced, all facilities at AFAC will close.

Reopening dates will depend on further announcements from the Premier and we will get this information to you via our Facebook Page and member email as soon as we can after the press conference. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Any current lockdown notices will appear as a website banner alert at the top of this page, so please check there for specific details.

Please note that the Sauna and Steam room will close when masks are required.

What happens to crèche and group fitness bookings?

Anchor link

Our system will close for bookings during lockdowns. This means that you won’t be able to book any classes through the member portal until we have confirmed reopening dates. Please check the website banner at the top of the page for any current lockdown restriction notices.

What happens to my membership direct debit during a lockdown?

Anchor link

Due to uncertainty around the duration of State lockdowns, all membership payments will continue during lockdowns. Unfortunately, it’s not always possible to cancel everyone’s payments in time. Rest assured that your membership and/or Swim School membership will be credited for any time the Centre is closed due to State lockdowns.

If you wish to discuss your debit payments please email info@armadale.wa.gov.au.

Will I have to pay full membership fees during a lockdown?

Anchor link

Membership fees will continue as usual; however, your membership will be credited accordingly to reflect any time the Centre was closed due to a State Government lockdown.

Do you offer virtual workouts when the Centre is closed?

Anchor link

We always offer at-home workouts via our YouTube channel and the MyWellness app – so be sure to check those out if you’re hankering for a good workout!

What happens to my Swim School direct debit during a lockdown?

Anchor link

Swim School memberships pay fortnightly in advance for two lessons (e.g. $15 per lesson x 2 = $30). You will be debited as normal (every second Monday), however you’ll receive a credit in arrears for any lessons missed during a lockdown.

Will my Swim School enrolment change during a closure?

Anchor link

No, your original lesson day and time will still apply. If there are any changes to your regular lesson slot, you’ll be contacted by a Swim School team member.

My child was close to passing their current level before a Centre closure; will they be reassessed?

Anchor link

After having a short break, it’s important for us to understand where each student is at with their Swim School journey. All students will be assessed shortly after we recommence lessons.

My usual lesson day and time is no longer suitable after lockdown, can I change it?

Anchor link

We understand that your schedule may have changed. We recommend submitting any changes before Swim School recommences to avoid missing out on your preferred lesson day and time.

COVID Measures

Is it safe to visit AFAC, what measures do you have in place?

Anchor link

As per government requirements, we have a COVID Safe Plan to ensure that we have the correct measures and mitigations in place at our facilities. Our staff have all completed mandatory hygiene training, additional cleaning measures have been implemented across the facility and hand sanitisers are readily available.

The centre is also deep cleaned during any lockdown.

Are there restrictions on how many times a week I can visit?

Anchor link

There are no restrictions on the number of times that you visit us. You can come as many times a week as you like!

Is gym equipment being cleaned after every use?

Anchor link

Staff will clean equipment throughout the day.

We also ask that our members play their part and help maintain cleanliness by using disinfectant wipes to clean equipment before and after use. Please remember a full size towel is compulsory on all gym equipment.

How will you make sure that equipment is safe to use during Swim School lessons?

Anchor link

The health and safety of our staff and community remains our top priority. All of the equipment used in lessons will be thoroughly cleaned throughout the day to ensure that high levels of hygiene are maintained.
