The Railway Avenue Principal Shared Path Extension Commencing May 2019

Release date

Key Facts

The Railway Avenue Principal Shared Path extension project is funded by the Department of Transport and the City of Armadale. The project will have numerous benefits to the community and local businesses which include:

  • Increased walking and cycling for wellbeing and transport
  • A safe walking and cycling path which connects the community to schools, work and other local destinations
  • Connects Armadale to the Principal Shared Path (PSP) along the railway which is enjoyed by other local government areas across the Perth Metropolitan Area.

It is anticipated that there will be unavoidable traffic disruption during the construction period.

Work has commenced on the path which includes some ground works and vegetation clearing, prior to construction of the path.

The proposed project will extend the current PSP on Railway Avenue at the corner of Lowanna Way for a length of approximately 4.7km to be constructed in two stages. This will ultimately complete the link of paths connecting all the train stations along Railway Avenue and beyond. The new path will be constructed from red coloured asphalt which aligns to the desired outcomes and priorities set out in the Western Australian Bicycle Network (WABN) Plan 2014 -2031.
